Regional Anaesthesia: Principles and Practice
(Certificate Course – Hybrid Model)
Introduction
Regional anaesthesia is a cornerstone of modern anaesthetic practice, enhancing perioperative care and optimizing surgical outcomes. This advanced, interactive certificate course is tailored for consultant anaesthetists, acute pain specialists, and emergency physicians looking to refine and expand their expertise in ultrasound-guided regional anaesthesia (UGRA).
Employing a hybrid model—merging self-paced online modules with hands-on immersion—this program meets the demands of busy clinicians. Participants will acquire technical mastery, strategic insights for service integration, and tools to address institutional challenges. The curriculum features expert-led lectures, case-based learning, and supervised ultrasound scanning on live volunteers, fostering practical confidence.
This structured course covers foundational to advanced UGRA topics, enabling participants to effectively establish and maintain regional anaesthesia services
Course Objectives
· Deliver a thorough understanding of regional anaesthesia, including anatomy, block techniques, indications, contraindications, and complication management.
· Build hands-on skills via simulation and expert-supervised live ultrasound scanning.
· Enable precise sonographic identification of key structures: brachial plexus, peripheral nerves (upper/lower extremities), head/neck blocks, truncal blocks, and related vascular/musculoskeletal elements.
· Foster critical thinking through interactive, problem-based learning and case discussions.
· Equip participants to identify sonographic artifacts and troubleshoot using ultrasound adjustments and transducer maneuvers
